A McDonald’s employee hangs in the balance after being injured in an argument between a young man and his mother over cold fries

A worker at a McDonald’s restaurant in New York was nearly killed after being shot and injured in an argument between a young man and his mother over cold fries. This tragedy happened in Brooklyn, one of the five boroughs of New York. The city’s police (NYPD) confirmed to AFP that a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with “attempted murder” and “possession of a weapon”. His companion, aged 18, was also detained and charged with “possession of a firearm”.

According to a story by the NYPD and tabloid New York Post, a 23-year-old McDonald’s waiter was shot and critically wounded in the neck early Monday night and remains hospitalized in “critical condition.”

It all started with a vulgar dispute between a 40-year-old woman and an employee over fries that she thought were cold, according to the newspaper citing police sources. Feeling teased by McDonald’s staff about the temperature of her fries, the client, who told the New York Post, then called her son via video.

The latter entered the restaurant, fighting with the waiter before the two argued outside.

The client’s son then brandished a weapon and shot the employee, said the police quoted by the daily.

The New York Post published a photo of the victim before the tragedy and another while he was lying on the sidewalk, clearly injured. The victim is unknown to the police and the justice system, unlike his attacker who has been arrested several times for various crimes and offenses.
