Fermin Aldeguer has been offered by two factory teams to take part in MotoGP races. But he will stay in Moto2 in 2023 to “gain more experience”.
GP-Inside has been warning you about the potential of young Fermin Aldeguer since 2020. The 2021 Moto2 European champion appeared at the last Grand Prix of Argentina, where he took the first pole position of his career before crashing in the race after contact with leader and eventual winner Celestino Vietti.
His performance – he became the youngest rider in the history of the intermediate category and came close to becoming the first non-Kalex rider to win from Valencia 2019 – had his agent, Hector Fabel, ringing the bell. “It was crazy… Energy drinks, suppliers of helmets, gloves, skins, boots: my phone was flooded with messages. They all want Fermin”– he explained to the MotoGP.com microphone.
“There are many interesting things around him”, — continues the former pilot. His colt, who just turned 17, even already has offers to ride in MotoGP. “We have a few options at this point. We will study every offer, but we are keeping calm as he is still very young. Two factory teams made us an offer and each satellite structure contacted us. »
If there will be a transition to MotoGP, then not in 2023. Fermin Aldeguerre is indeed playing his first season in the Moto2 World Championship and does not want to rush things. “Next year it has been decided that we will stay in Moto2 because he needs to get more experience. » But the door is not closed in 2024.
