The Blues almost made the quarterfinals of the BMX Worlds

The Blues are in good form! During the series and round of 16 of the BMX World Championships, this Saturday in Nantes, the French riders monopolized the first places and ranked among the favorites for the final victory. Only Romain Mahiu, victim of a pedal problem during his eighth, did not qualify. The remaining 6 Frenchmen ranked in the Elite category guarantee.

Best time of the series of 28’753 seconds, double world champion Joris Daudet (2011, 2016) largely dominated in his eighth. Eddy Clerté also crossed the finish line in the lead during both races of the day, as did Jérémy Rencurel. The latter even allowed himself the luxury of defeating Dutch Olympic champion and reigning world champion Nick Kimman at the post.

Highly anticipated, reigning four-time French champion and 2018 world champion Sylvain Andre did not disappoint. First in his series, he achieved the best time of the day in the eighth round, in 28’529s. Finally, Arthur Pillard, second in his eighth, will find his compatriots in the next round. French-Colombian Vincent Pelloir, French champion since 2013 and now competing for Colombia, also qualified.

The only representative of the tricolors in Elite, the French champion Camille Mer, got out of a particularly tough series with 4 Olympic finalists. She is 4th and will defend her chances in the semi-finals tomorrow. She is accompanied by Léa Brindjonc in the Juniors.

On the U23 side, after improving his streak, World Cup leader Leo Garoyan secured qualification by finishing 2nd in his eighth. Tatian Louis-Hin-Tsan, the French U23 champion two weeks ago and the 2019 world junior champion, crossed the finish line leading in both of his races. Dylan Gober will accompany his teammates to the quarters after his second place finish in the eighth.

Finally, two of the three Frenchmen ranked in the junior category qualified. Pierre Geisse, who is one of the favourites, dominated his two races and made a strong impression. Only Maxime Habert, 2nd in his eighth, will accompany him in the quarter.

You can follow the quarter-finals of the BMX World Championships in Nantes on La Chaîne L’Equipe this Sunday from 12:15 p.m. The semi-finals and finals will then follow.
